Every week/month, I will highlight a discussion point for subscribed members to discuss and/or inform me of their thoughts. This week I will raise a question that I have been asked on numerous occasions this season.

Does a walkover in a league match count towards the averages? Two main discussion points are:

a) Does the player who is present get awarded a win towards their averages for the season?

b) If the player who isn't present is named on the card, do they get a loss towards their averages for the season?

On point a, I would say that yes, the player who is present has been denied the opportunity to win their frame, and is therefore awarded the win towards their averages.

On point b, I would say that regardless of whether a frame is awarded 1-0 on a match card, the team who are short, should write down "NO PLAYER" on the match card, or if there is a name on the card, as Fixture Secretary, I will change this to "NO PLAYER". There may be circumstances where a player lets his/her captain down by not turning up, but on 99% of occasions, a captain will know the situation before they turn up for the match.

Hiya,

I would say that any non played match should not count towards a players stats as this would skew the stats would it not, who is to say the player awarded the match would have won and vice versa.
